Tampa’s Jatropha Nursery
Use the Jatropha as a colorful specimen plant or a focal point around a patio, deck area, or window view in your Tampa landscape. It is an evergreen shrub that could be considered a small tree. It has long and narrow glossy leaves with clusters of small star shaped scarlet flowers. One of the most prized characteristics of the Jatropha is that the flowers bloom throughout most of the year. It can be a good mixed shrub border or a container plant. Other aesthetic benefits include attracting butterflies hummingbirds, and other small birds to your yard. The Jatropha has a domelike shape and can reach heights of 15ft tall with a 10 ft wide canopy. The tree’s thin trucks make them easy to prune into a single truck tree or design it in other shapes to fit your needs. It grows best in well drained soils and full sun to partial shade and is a very drought tolerant plant.
