As the first few cool nights happen upon the Tampa Bay area, most of us are extremely relieved and, once again, realize it is not 78 degrees and humid every night of the year in Central Florida. It also signals an opportune time to give our lawns a “wintertime fertilization” to make sure it survives any possible sub freezing nights that could be around the corner.
The most important thing to keep in mind in regards to the type of fertilizer is the last number, it refers to the amount of potassium it contains and it should be a 10. A winterizing fertilizer should have a lot of Potassium because it helps keep the lawn looking good throughout the wintertime and has been proven to limit the damage delivered during the freeze snaps we have been getting more frequently lately.
